Let’s take some inventory.
IT’S FREAKIN DECEMBER. How? Why? When??
Rich and I were recently discussing how we had big plans to achieve certain things this past year, but honestly, we never even got them off the ground. We kept “intending to,” but before we knew it, it was already DECEMBER!
Time doesn’t seem to be slowing down for us to get it together😅. It doesn’t pause for us to focus, reorganize, or become more disciplined. It just charges by. So, unless I want to be 95 and still talking about what I want to do someday, I had better learn how to be a goal slayer and productive powerhouse in the midst of LIFE happening.

I don’t want my goals to remain mere wishes. I refuse to keep saying, “Someday I will.” Why not now? Why not this year? Why not start today? I’ve won some and lost some🫠….
My poor mom has had numerous grandiose plans and ideas for small businesses over the years. Some would have worked, some would have failed, but none of them were given a chance. They were all just stuck in her creative brain. I don’t know that she ever knew HOW to get them out and into action. Life was always non-stop chaos. It never slowed down long enough for her to focus on and LIVE OUT any of her dreams. But if that is what is required… none of us will make it.
It must be intentional on our part. Making our goals, dreams, desires, plans, and ideas a reality does NOT come naturally to most of us. We must CHOOSE to make them important. We must CHOOSE to learn new tactics, skills, and tools and then add hard work to the combo to achieve our goals.
Some good news? Eleanor Roosevelt says, “It takes as much energy to wish as it does to plan.” So, let’s stop wishing and start planning!
This article is all the stuff we have heard before. This ain’t no life-altering, pivotal, groundbreaking post. But it IS designed to get you to CONSIDER the time you have left.
I challenge you to write some things down before the end of the year.
Start making a list of YOUR things. Get with your husband or family and do the same. Reflect on each area of your life: What have you accomplished, and where do you want to go? What bold declarations have you made about what you want to do—or promised you would do—but haven’t started yet? What have you told yourself you would one day do, but life seems to fly by, and you don’t give it any attention?
You have just been living amidst chaos or caught in “the whirlwind” (as described in the recommended book below), allowing it to dictate and determine what consumes your life…
“Few people have any next, they live from hand to mouth without a plan and are always at the end of their line.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Learn how to be a person who isn’t just all talk. Learn how to get your ideas and dreams out of your head… and into ACTION. Here is an excellent suggested list by © Braid Creative & Consulting, LLC, to get you started:
Step 1: Talk about your ideas. The first step to transforming a fleeting thought into a good idea is to talk about it. …
Step 2: Write it down. …
Step 3: Make an action plan. Start with a practical STEP ONE…
Step 4: Put Your Nose to the Grindstone. …
Step 5: Know when to let go.
“Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire and begin at once, whether you ready or not, to put this plan into action.”– Napoleon Hill
Let’s enjoy the remaining time this year with loved ones, celebrating the Birth of our Savior Jesus. But also, we should look forward to a new year with hope and expectation that we CAN and WILL achieve the things God has placed in our hearts.
“The best way to predict the future is to create it.” – Abraham Lincoln
