He Gives Grace for the Assignment

Speaking at Mercy Indonesia With Pastor Marlysia Wiranto

Have you ever asked yourself or whoever is listening within a mile, how you are supposed to manage your life and all the things? It is easy to stack up our responsibilities in our minds to be miles high and look to the horizon with no hope or end in sight.  How are we supposed to increase? Grow? Manage more?  Juggle the life we have taken on, and oh… and ALSO the life God has ordained?

I have been feeling myself in this predicament lately.   I am in the pressure cooker getting cooked.  And if something doesn’t change, I don’t know if I can make it!

Don’t worry I have an answer. Haha. I don’t write these things without one.

So two thoughts…

1. My statement above… the life I have taken on vs. the life GOD has ordained.  Some things God has not chosen for me, but I have chosen for myself.  He gives us the grace to handle what HE assigns.

Gosh some things have got to go.  Some things have taken center stage in my mind and life, sucking up energy God wants directed elsewhere.  It doesn’t mean these things are wrong… but that these things should not have priority in my life.

I recently took on a side hobby of making my own yogurt.  It’s SO fun, and SO yummy.  But if I were to go buy my own milk cow, name her Big Bertha, and start milking that thing daily to make MORE yogurt… it would quickly consume my energy, time, and resources that, I promise, God wants used elsewhere. Big Bertha is not a sin, or wrong… she’s just needy of what belongs to God.  And growing up on a farm, trust me, those milk cows are needy and can make enough milk to feed a family of 18.  Poor things.

    You get my point.

Examine yourself.  Where are you wasting your precious resources on things GOD has not assigned to you? Time, energy, stress, money, focus, even love… what consumes parts of you that you can admit are not the wisest choices?

    Moving on…

    2. Whatever God has assigned to you, He will make you fit to accomplish it.

I have an awesome verse for you…

“To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.” – 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 ESV

Stay with me.  Let’s break it down..

“Make you worthy of His calling…”  Meaning God makes you fit for what He called you to.

What does “worthy” mean”? Not deserving… But prepared, shaped, matured, aligned.

You don’t become worthy by effort; You become worthy by God’s work in you.

WOW, what a reliefIf God had shown me my assignment when I first gave my life to Him, I never would have believed it!

God does not lower the calling to match you… He raises you to match the calling.

And often WE don’t feel ready or prepared even when it’s time.

We want to have control.  We want to feel confident IN OURSELVES.  But with God’s grace we can do infinitely more than we could ever imagine. Depending on ourselves in any way is setting it all up for disaster! And a ton of work and stress without His help. HARD PASS.

I promise I do NOT FEEL READY to lead a conference for Pastor’s wives in Southeast Asia this next year.  But guess what…. God rises me to match my calling.  By HIS GRACE I will be made fit for what He has called me to do.

***Side note: please pray for me because…. WHAT?! 😅

The picture I chose for this post is me speaking overseas.  Never in 1000 years did I ever see myself able to do this. BY GOD’S GRACE.

    Okay moving on….

“Fulfill every resolve” – does that mean He will help us to fulfill everything we set out to do? No, no. Because some of it isn’t what he has called us to.

This phrase emphasizes that when our intentions (resolves) align with God’s will, He provides the power to make them happen for His glory, often exceeding our initial expectations

“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.”  Ephesians 3:20 NLT

And I can testify to that over and over and over again.

“Fulfill every work of faith by His power”…

Meaning the practical, active deeds that stem from trusting in God—such as laboring in ministry, sharing the gospel, forgiveness that doesn’t make sense, or displaying love under pressure.

It is not passive belief, but faith producing action. Your FAITH… produces the right ACTION.

The key distinction: works of faith are not done by human strength, grit, or willpower, but by the supernatural energy of the Holy Spirit working within the believer.

But notice: It is done by His power — not yours.

Some people would never have received my forgiveness apart from the supernatural strength of the Holy Spirit.  Apply that to pretty much anything I have done.  Him in ME.

    And WHY?

“so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in Him”

Christ glorified in YOU and You glorified in HIM.

    IMPORTANT AND LASTLY:

    And what is the source?

“according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ”

Everything in these verses flows from one source:  Grace

    • You don’t start this work — grace does
    • You don’t sustain this work — grace does
    • You don’t complete this work — grace does

    Bottom line…

    1. How can I simplify my life to align with what GOD wants?
    2. Can I rest in the fact that whatever HE HAS for me… He will prepare me for? He will enable me to do it?
    3. Am I worried I can’t hear God clearly enough to get this right?

Trust Him. HE KNOWS HOW TO LEAD YOU BETTER THAN YOU KNOW HOW TO FOLLOW.

Take it one day at a time. Stay close, stay willing, and ask Him to teach you obedience. You’ll find He is faithful to handle the details.

Maybe the goal isn’t to do more, carry more, or become more.

Maybe it’s to let go of what isn’t yours…
and trust God to fully supply what is.

Because at the end of the day…
if He called you to it, He will carry you through it.

Go girls, let’s learn this together.  I believe in you and pray for you.  I want you to discover just how incredible Jesus’ plan is for you!!
